On a warm evening with just a few clouds in the sky, pinball enthusiasts converged at The Pinball Lounge @ Oviedo Bowling Center for the highly anticipated Bonanza on May 7, 2024. With temperatures feeling like a toasty 91°F, 33 players were ready to face off in a 6-round, 1-game-per-round format that promised excitement and fierce competition. Organized by the ever-enthusiastic Kurt van Zyl, the event kicked off at 7:00 PM and ran for a thrilling 3 hours and 29 minutes.

Jurassic Park Adventure in Round 6

Round 6 saw a thrilling match on the Jurassic Park (Premium) pinball machine by Stern, released on October 1, 2019. Players battled through the dense jungles and ferocious dinosaurs, trying to outmaneuver the T-Rex and escape the island. Dawn Ziatyk emerged victorious, skillfully navigating the perilous playfield. Patrick Durland from Florida secured second place with his quick reflexes, while James Blackford and Joe Todd from Eustis, FL, rounded out the top spots with impressive performances.

As the final scores were tallied, it was time to honor the top players who outflipped the competition. Here are the champions of the night:

1. John Moschella, from Winter Springs, FL, IFPA rank 857, Total IFPA Events 63
   • John’s impressive skill and high ranking secured him the top spot, showcasing his mastery of the game.
2. Nick Smith, FL, IFPA rank 3265, Total IFPA Events 89
   • Nick’s consistent performance and strategic play earned him a well-deserved second place.
3. Al Neumann, IFPA rank 1452, Total IFPA Events 309
   • Al’s experience and dedication shone through, landing him in third place.
4. Dawn Ziatyk, IFPA rank 3198, Total IFPA Events 59
   • Dawn’s standout win in the Jurassic Park game highlighted her competitive edge, earning her a spot in the top four.

• Meteor by Stern Electronics (Released January 09, 1979): Known for its challenging playfield and engaging features, Meteor offered a nostalgic trip back to the golden age of pinball.
• Red & Ted’s Road Show by Williams (Released January 01, 1994): This game’s interactive playfield and fun road trip theme kept players entertained and on their toes.
• Harlem Globetrotters On Tour by Bally (Released August 28, 1978): Combining sports and pinball, this machine’s lively gameplay and catchy soundtrack were a hit.
• Attack from Mars by Bally (Released January 12, 1995): With its captivating alien invasion theme and exciting multiball modes, this machine was a standout in the tournament.
