MFStrikes!!: The Digital Battlefield

Greetings, Programs! The digital grid buzzes with the echoes of a recent conflict that took place in a neon-lit arena known as Lynn’s Arcade: A Pinball Parlor and Can Slangery. On June 13, 2024, at precisely 7:00 PM, 24 warriors, each armed with their pinball skills, entered the grid for the MFStrikes!! tournament. The battle was intense, consisting of 11 grueling rounds where participants faced off in two-player games. Those who received three strikes were derezzed, leaving only the strongest programs standing. The combat lasted for 3 hours, under the watchful eye of the overcast sky and a crisp 55°F breeze.

Lynn’s Arcade: A Sanctuary on the Grid

Lynn’s Arcade is a haven for all programs seeking solace from the oppressive MCP. At 1760 Fremont Boulevard, Suite D1, Seaside, California, this parlor provided the perfect battleground for our digital warriors. An outstanding place with impeccably maintained machines, with a vast variety of canned beer and a cup holder on every machine, it merges the analog and digital realms flawlessly. The hospitable staff and budget-friendly setup make it a must-visit. The atmosphere hums with energy, reminiscent of the days when pinball ruled the arcades, and the machines themselves seem eager to relive those glory days. Oh, how I wish places like this existed when I first roamed the grid as a young pinballer!

A Battle Among the Undead

In Round 5, a battle of epic proportions occurred on The Walking Dead (Pro) by Stern. Imagine the scene: hordes of zombies closing in, chaos reigning, and the stench of decay in the air. Two warriors, Mike Hubbard, ranked 3713 by the IFPA, and Carlene Malack, with an IFPA rank of 10700, faced off. Mike, with the precision of a light cycle racer, managed to fend off the undead, racking up a score that left the crowd cheering. Carlene fought valiantly, but Mike’s skill and strategy led him to emerge victorious, claiming the top spot in this intense showdown.

Tron Pinball – Code Breakers’ Delight

Within the Tron realm, Disney TRON: Legacy by Stern, released in May 2011, stood out. Designed by the master of digital wizardry, this machine brings the battle against the Master Control Program (MCP) to life. The glowing blue and orange hues transport players directly onto the Grid, with fast-paced gameplay that mirrors the speed and intensity of light cycle races. Every flip and nudge felt like a hacker’s attempt to outmaneuver the MCP, making it a thrilling experience.
