In Round 6 of the tournament, the battlefield was Iron Maiden: Legacy of the Beast by Stern, a machine that demands precision and courage, much like the band’s epic, otherworldly tales. As the players entered the arena, it was clear this was no ordinary match. Mark Pearson, the top contender with a State Rank of 2nd, took the helm first, channeling the machine’s relentless energy like a seasoned warrior leading his army into battle. His mastery over the game was evident as he hit combo after combo, skillfully maneuvering through modes and unleashing Eddie’s fury on the playfield, eventually claiming first place.

Dave Halley, despite being ranked 39th in the state, played like a hero on a quest for redemption. He might have been a lesser-known fighter in this tournament, but his determination was fierce. He navigated the complex playfield with impressive resolve, even as the machine threw obstacles his way, finishing a strong second.

Brittany Daniel, a newcomer with a state ranking of 194th, took on the game like a valiant warrior against insurmountable odds. Though her ranking placed her as the underdog, she battled through the game’s complex multiball sequences and tricky ramp shots, securing third place. Andrew Kohtz, from Phoenix, AZ, ranked 68th in the state, faced the machine with the same determination but found himself outpaced by the others. Jim not only organized the event but also put on a stellar performance, proving he’s a double threat—both on the administrative side and at the pinball machines. With a state ranking of 14th and an IFPA rank of 404, Jim showed that he can hold his own against the state’s best, especially in such a competitive environment.

Third place went to Jobie Gilchrist, hailing from Piney Flats. Jobie’s journey through the tournament was nothing short of impressive, and his state ranking of 146th doesn’t quite capture the skill he displayed throughout the day. With just over 100 IFPA events to his name, Jobie is clearly on the rise, and his performance this month suggests he’s a player to watch.
