Deadpool (Pro) Gameplay & History

The Pro edition of Stern’s Deadpool delivers the same wisecracking Marvel mayhem in a leaner, more shot-forward package — and for a lot of players, that’s the sweet spot. Designed by George Gomez, Stern’s veteran chief creative officer whose résumé runs from Tron to Spider-Man, this 2018 solid-state machine swaps some of the Premium’s mechanical gadgetry for a generous spread of standup targets, keeping the action fast and the rules readable. The aerial wireform styled as a samurai sword still arcs across the playfield, its hilt rising to lock balls, so the table’s best visual joke survives the trim intact.

What makes Deadpool tick is its battle system. You assemble a roster of X-Men and drag them into fights against villains like Juggernaut, and your picks shape the math — Colossus doubles the points on offer, Wolverine sharpens your damage, Dazzler keeps your life bar from bleeding out too fast. Around those scraps swirl three distinct multiballs: Ninja, locked via the Katana ramp; Disco, spun up at the left spinner; and Mechsuit, unlocked by stockpiling weapons across the playfield.

That weapon count is the key to a big game. Each milestone bumps a permanent playfield multiplier, so the smart approach is to bank repeatable left-ramp and inner-orbit combos, fattening your multiplier before you commit to a mode. Collect enough and you’ll even spot an extra ball. With its open layout and lower price of entry, the Pro is the friendliest door into Deadpool’s deep, joke-stuffed ruleset — accessible enough for a casual flail, but with more than enough hidden under the hood to keep a tournament regular grinding chimichangas long into the night.
