Wrath of Olympus Gameplay & History

Wrath of Olympus is a rare, ultra-boutique heavy hitter from Riot Pinball, standing as a testament to the singular vision of designer Scott Gullicks. With only six units confirmed to exist, this mythological epic is a true collector’s white whale. Eschewing the conventional layouts of major manufacturers, Gullicks crafted a complex, multi-tiered experience that utilizes an elevated playfield and an intimidating array of six flippers, demanding absolute precision from the player. The aesthetic is drenched in high-stakes drama, bolstered by the cinematic intensity of a score by Two Steps from Hell, perfectly framing the battle against the gods.

The mechanical centerpiece is undoubtedly Pandora’s Box, a clever toy perched on the right ramp that hungrily hoards locked pinballs in anticipation of a chaotic multiball payoff. The playfield is a dense forest of fourteen standup targets and a pop-up Hades bash toy that forces you to constantly recalibrate your aim. Between the spinning targets, the Newton ball post, and the inclusion of a messenger ball, the game feels less like a traditional arcade machine and more like a tactical gauntlet.

Navigating the Wrath of Olympus requires mastering the flow between the main level and the elevated playfield, where a single misstep can send the ball careening into the outlanes. You’ll need to rely heavily on the left outlane kickback to survive long enough to trigger the multiball modes. It is a punishing, deeply mechanical experience that captures the volatile nature of Greek mythology, proving that even with a production run in the single digits, Riot Pinball managed to deliver a design as ambitious as its namesake.
