Pinball Manufacturers: Dutch Pinball

A little history on Dutch Pinball

Based in Herkenbosch, Netherlands, Dutch Pinball was founded with a singular, ambitious goal: to create ultra-premium, boutique pinball machines that spared absolutely no expense on theme integration. While their journey through the manufacturing process is one of the most turbulent in modern arcade history, their sheer persistence ultimately produced some of the most sought-after machines in the hobby.

Dutch Pinball exploded onto the scene in the early 2010s when they announced a feature-rich machine based on the 1998 Coen Brothers cult classic, The Big Lebowski. Designed by Barry Driessen, the machine became an instant holy grail for its unprecedented level of cinematic integration.
The playfield is packed with legendary, deeply thematic mechanical toys: The Lower Bowling Alley: A literal sub-playfield where players use the flippers to bowl for strikes.
The Rug Toy: A physical, motorized rug mechanism in the center of the playfield that “really ties the room together.”
The White Russian: An illuminated, custom-sculpted drink toy that tracks player progress.

Following the prototype reveal in 2014, the company was plunged into a nightmare scenario. Severe financial disputes and legal battles with their initial contract manufacturer led to years of terrifying setbacks and halted production lines. The earliest buyers who weathered this storm are celebrated in the community as “Early Achievers.” Through sheer determination, Dutch Pinball managed to restructure, secure a new manufacturing facility, and successfully resume fulfillment in the late 2010s, stabilizing their operations and delivering a masterpiece.

Having conquered the manufacturing mountain, the company expanded in 2024 by launching a sister brand, Dutch Pinball Exclusive (DPX). Dedicated to producing high-end, limited-edition art pieces for discerning collectors, DPX made massive waves with their debut announcement: Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland.

Designed and engineered by Melvin Brouwer-Williams, this machine resurrected an abandoned black-and-white concept originally penned by John Popadiuk during his Zidware days. Limited to just 500 units, the machine features industry-first interactive RGB side rails, a motorized Jabberwock arm, and a 3-ball physical lock under the playfield. By successfully bringing this doomed concept to life, Dutch Pinball has firmly cemented its status as a resilient, top-tier manufacturer in the modern pinball landscape.
