The Premium edition of Stern’s Ghostbusters takes John Trudeau’s slime-soaked 2016 design and adds the showpiece tech that sets it apart. Where the Pro relies on conventional slingshots, the Premium hides two electromagnets beneath the lower playfield to simulate that slingshot action, and crowns the table with an interactive hologram projector that conjures spectral effects above the playfield — a genuine wow factor that brings the haunting to life. Six captive balls, a spinning target, and a Newton ball round out a famously busy, famously tough layout.
The ruleset rewards a multiplier-first mindset. The left “P” rollover is the key, paying +3X bonus on each hit, while collecting gears via the left ramp builds toward big proton-pack hurry-ups. Stacking the “K” rollover multipliers with the colossal Stay Puft is the path to monster scores, and modes branch out from the left scoop, left ramp, and right loop toward the “We Came, We Saw” mini-wizard mode.
As on every Ghostbusters, survival is its own skill — the outlanes are merciless, so players use the short ball-save off the right kickout to bounce-pass safely and pick off the captive balls to qualify locks. Atmospheric, dense, and demanding, the Ghostbusters Premium is the most theatrical way to experience one of the modern era’s great challenges, hologram and all.
