Jurassic Park (Pro) Gameplay & History

Stern’s Jurassic Park, released in 2019, is widely hailed as one of designer Keith Elwin’s masterpieces, and this Pro edition delivers that celebrated layout in its most accessible form. Built around the 1993 film, it strands you on Isla Nublar after the park’s systems fail, tasking you with rescuing the staff and recapturing the dinosaurs loose across the island. Three flippers orchestrate a fast, flowing field of ramps and orbits that link into the long, satisfying combos that are Elwin’s signature.

The marquee attraction is the T-Rex. Spell out T-REX by repeatedly hitting the truck to summon the apex predator, and the savvy move is to line up a T-Rex event or Control Room mode just before a multiball so the scoring stacks sky-high. Inside T-Rex Multiball, sequence is everything — clear the yellow arrows fast, then chase the red jackpot arrows in order, each compounding the value of the last. Raptor and Chaos multiballs offer their own routes to a six-ball frenzy.

For the skill-shot connoisseur, Jurassic Park is a playground, offering everything from a tidy short-plunge secret award to elaborate full-plunge combos ricocheting from ramp to ramp, including one named for Stern’s own Mike Vinikour. Rescue enough staff and capture the T-Rex in its paddock to light extra balls and keep the hunt alive. Deep, fast, and endlessly rewarding, the Jurassic Park Pro earns its place on pinball’s all-time short list.
