Stranger Things (Pro) Gameplay & History

Stern’s Stranger Things, released in 2019, holds a special place as Brian Eddy’s first design for the company — the return of the mind behind Attack From Mars and Medieval Madness, now conjuring the eerie Hawkins of the hit Netflix series. This Pro edition keeps the layout tight and atmospheric, with a lowering center ramp that grants access to a Demogorgon bash toy, a four-bank of memory drop targets, and a stop magnet that brings the supernatural menace right onto the playfield.

The mode structure is clean and inviting. Hitting any major shot — either orbit or either ramp — three times starts a mode, and qualifying all four three times each unlocks the Total Isolation mini-wizard mode. Standups beside the left ramp light locks for multiball, while a randomly appearing “Upside Down” turns the drop targets into a big-points bonanza. Arming 2X scoring by looping the left inner loop ten times, then cashing it in at the scoop, is a key to a high score.

The cleverest wrinkle is the action button, which lets you destroy the Demogorgon once per game — but only before the ball registers as drained, so a perfectly timed deployment on a doomed ball can be worth a fortune. Moody, fast, and rich with series atmosphere, the Stranger Things Pro announced Eddy’s Stern era in style — a machine that’s as tense and rewarding as a trip into the Upside Down itself.
