The Munsters (LE) Gameplay & History

Stern’s The Munsters, released in early 2019 as the company’s first title of the year, brings the beloved 1960s monster-family sitcom to the flippers, and this Limited Edition is its most decked-out form. Designed by John Borg with hand-drawn artwork by Christopher Franchi, it sports a four-flipper layout, twin Newton-ball targets, a captive ball, and an elevating center ramp — a quirky, character-packed table that leans into the show’s ghoulish charm.

The scoring revolves around the family. Shooting Herman starts a hurry-up; strike him a second time to collect it and magna-lock a ball, then strike the captive ball once more to launch multiball. The blue Kitty target beside Herman bumps the playfield multiplier when lit, a key to amplifying everything else. The marquee chase is Munster Madness, lit by working through Herman, Raven, Lily, Spot, and Grandpa — and the smart pattern is to build a stacked super jackpot with a playfield multiplier (ideally 6X) before cashing in.

A word of warning baked into the design: by default the game has no ball saver, so the wise move is a short plunge to trap up on the right flipper, skipping the low-scoring skill shots entirely. Charming, tricky, and full of monster-mash personality, The Munsters LE is a Borg design with real teeth — a table that rewards patient, multiplier-minded play and a love of classic TV camp.
