The latest showdown at EinStein’s Pub and Arcade was nothing short of electrifying. On June 23, 2024, twenty pinball aficionados gathered for the EinStein’s=MatchplayCompetition². The event, organized by Space City Pinball, saw intense competition over seven rounds, culminating in a thrilling finals where the top eight battled it out in two rounds of three games each. Despite the light rain and the sweltering heat that felt like 103°F, the pinball spirits were high, and the competition fierce.
A Gem of a Pub
EinStein’s Pub & Arcade, located at 16733 West Airport Blvd. ste. 290, Richmond, Texas 77407, was the perfect setting for this epic tournament. The arcade is renowned for its family-friendly atmosphere, making it an ideal spot for pinball lovers of all ages. With a plethora of pinball machines, delicious burgers, and an abundance of TVs, it’s no wonder the reviews rave about the place being a paradise for both kids and adults. Epic Showdown on JAWS (LE)
The highlight of the finals was undoubtedly the marathon match on JAWS (LE), Stern’s January 2024 release. This game, inspired by the iconic shark thriller, saw players Chris Low, Chris Geist, Mike Flanagan, and Grayson Turner locked in a grueling 99-minute duel. The tension was palpable as each player skillfully navigated the perilous waters of Amity Island, dodging the great white shark to rack up points. In the end, Chris Low emerged victorious, showcasing his prowess and nerve under pressure.
Star Machines on Display
The tournament featured an impressive lineup of 16 machines, each with its unique flair and challenges. James Bond 007 (LE) by Stern, with its sleek spy-themed design, kept players on their toes. Theatre of Magic by Bally captivated with its enchanting illusions and magical tricks. JAWS (LE) brought the thrill of shark-infested waters right to the flippers. Toy Story 4 (LE) by Jersey Jack Pinball delighted with its nostalgic adventure, while Monster Bash (Remake LE) by Chicago Gaming resurrected the classic monster-movie chaos. Other standouts included Godzilla (LE), Cactus Canyon (Remake LE), and the ever-popular Medieval Madness (Remake Royal Edition).
Champions Crowned
A hearty congratulations to all the winners who showcased their exceptional pinball skills. Chris Geist, with an impressive IFPA rank of 866 and 335 total events, clinched the top spot. Grayson Turner, from Spring, TX, secured second place with a rank of 1496 in 115 events. Chris Low, ranked 2356 with 144 events, and Mike Flanagan, from Houston, TX, ranked 1166 with 106 events, rounded out the top four. Special mention to Troy Saenz, Matt Quantz, Conner Hughes, and Kyle Hanna for their remarkable performances.

EinStein’s Matchplay Madness: A Day of Pinball Brilliance
On May 26, 2024, pinball enthusiasts gathered at EinStein’s Pub and Arcade for the exhilarating EinStein’s=MatchplayCompetition². With 27 talented players competing in seven intense rounds, each lasting one game, the atmosphere was electric. The top 8 players then advanced to the finals, which comprised two rounds with three games each. Organized by the dedicated Space City Pinball, this event was a rollercoaster of excitement under broken clouds, with a temperature of 91°F that felt like a scorching 103°F.
The Wild West Duel: Cactus Canyon Finale
The highlight of the tournament was the epic showdown in the finals on Cactus Canyon (Remake LE) by Chicago Gaming, released in November 2021. This nail-biting match, inspired by the wild and lawless days of the Old West, stretched an incredible 74 minutes. The game was a true test of endurance and skill. Lee Balusek, ranked 490 by IFPA, emerged as the sharpest shooter, outlasting his competitors. Grayson Turner from Spring, TX, ranked 1709, secured second place with a valiant effort. Ben Whittington, ranked 958, claimed third, while Hunter Reed from Conroe, TX, ranked 1264, took fourth place after a fierce battle.
