Stern Army: Pinball Glory at Louie’s Tap House!
Louie’s Tap House buzzed with excitement on May 5, 2024, as 14 pinball wizards gathered for the Stern Army- Louie’s Silverball Sunday Monthly tournament. With an overcast sky and a crisp 64°F, the atmosphere was perfect for an afternoon of pinball magic. Organized by the fantastic Tom Menge, the tournament featured 7 intense rounds, each lasting about 4 hours and 10 minutes.
Round 5 Spotlight: JAWS (Premium) Showdown
In the fifth round, the tension peaked with a thrilling game on JAWS (Premium) by Stern, released on January 4, 2024. The players showed off their skills, but it was Mike Hancock from Rockford who clinched the top spot. Here are the results:

The competition was fierce, but these players rose to the top. Let’s give a round of applause to the champions of the Stern Army- Louie’s Silverball Sunday Monthly- May tournament:
- Trae Vance, IFPA rank 980, hailing from Madison, showed his mastery in pinball with 128 IFPA events under his belt. A well-deserved victory for a seasoned player!
- Shane Shadden, IFPA rank 5694, from Winnebago, IL, displayed remarkable skill and strategy, participating in 76 IFPA events. Shane’s efforts earned them the second place.
- Joe Buchanan, IFPA rank 3713, from Machesney Park, impressed everyone with his performance in 51 IFPA events, securing the third spot.
- Mike Hancock, IFPA rank 12395, from Rockford, showed his pinball prowess despite being relatively new with just 14 IFPA events. A commendable fourth place!

- Cactus Canyon (Remake LE) by Chicago Gaming: This November 2, 2021 release brought the wild west to life with its captivating design and smooth playfield, making it a favorite among participants.
- James Bond 007 (Premium) by Stern: Since its release on September 1, 2022, this machine has thrilled players with its espionage theme and high-tech features, adding a layer of excitement to the tournament.
- Elvira’s House of Horrors (Premium) by Stern: Launched on November 1, 2019, this game provided spooky fun with its horror-themed design and interactive elements.
- Godzilla (Premium) by Stern: Released on September 14, 2021, this machine roared to life with its monstrous design and dynamic gameplay, challenging players with its epic features.
Louie’s Tap House: A Perfect Pinball Haven
Louie’s Tap House, located at 5689 Elevator Rd, Roscoe, IL, offered the perfect setting for this pinball showdown. The large, cozy venue was complemented by a delicious menu that left us wanting more. The burnt tips were simply AMAZING, and the secret menu items like the elotes dip and homemade chips were delightful. The smoke house burger and the Cab Pot roast burger, both served with a side of fries, were cooked to perfection. The generous portions meant we had leftovers to enjoy later. The friendly staff and chill atmosphere made the experience even better. We can’t wait to return!

The 1up LoDo Looney May Monthly was a whirlwind of flippers, lights, and fierce competition! Held on May 5, 2024, at 6:00 PM, this Group Knockout Tournament saw 17 players face off in 9 rounds of pinball action. With the Progressive Strikes system, players were on their toes, aiming to avoid the dreaded strikes. Over the course of 11 hours, players battled it out under the overcast Denver skies, where temperatures hovered around 62°F.
Golden Tickets and Flippers: The Chocolate Factory Showdown
In Round 4, players were transported to a world of pure imagination with Willy Wonka & The Chocolate Factory by Jersey Jack Pinball. This game, released on April 12, 2019, brought the magical theme of the classic movie to life. The standout match saw Walt Wood from Englewood, CO, emerge victorious, showing mastery over the Oompa Loompas. John Quinn from Denver gave a valiant effort, securing second place, while Kyle Delaney and Mat Brundage rounded out the group.
Champions Rise: The 1up LoDo Looney May Monthly Winners
