Three Strike Tuesday Brings the Heat

On July 2, 2024, 18 pinball wizards descended upon The Game Preserve for the Three Strike – XXX Tuesday tournament. This thrilling Group Knockout event had players battling through 11 intense rounds, striving to avoid the dreaded three strikes. With a clear sky and a scorching temperature of 96°F (feeling more like 109°F), the competition was as heated as the weather outside.

Stepping Back in Time at The Game Preserve

Located at 473 Sawdust Road, Spring, Texas, The Game Preserve is a nostalgic paradise for pinball enthusiasts. Stepping into this arcade feels like a trip back in time, surrounded by classic games that bring out the inner child in everyone. The atmosphere is welcoming, and the staff’s enthusiasm makes the experience even better. It’s a place where you can play your favorite games for hours without breaking the bank.

Monster Mayhem on Godzilla (Pro)

Round 4 brought an epic clash on Stern’s Godzilla (Pro). Amidst the chaos and destruction that only Godzilla can bring, Marcus Toth emerged victorious, mastering the game’s complex ramps and multi-ball modes. Grayson Turner from Spring, TX, fought valiantly, securing second place. Maritza Chirichigno from Houston, TX, showed impressive skill, while Ben Whittington rounded out the group. The battle was a true highlight of the night, showcasing the excitement and unpredictability of competitive pinball.

Hunter Reed from Conroe, TX, demonstrated his prowess, earning second place with a state rank of 19th. Cree Luzskia’s third-place finish reflected his strong performance in the 61st state ranking, while Ben Whittington, ranked 20th, showcased his extensive experience with 458 total IFPA events. The Player 1 Arcade 2024 Series 5 (#2) IFPA pinball tournament took place on July 1, 2024, drawing 34 eager competitors to Player One Arcade. With broken clouds overhead and a scorching temperature of 104°F, the action inside was even hotter. Organized by the seasoned pinball enthusiast Jim Smith, this fast-paced event spanned five rounds, each featuring one intense game. The tournament wrapped up in just two hours and 30 minutes, leaving everyone buzzing with excitement.

Round 3 saw a memorable showdown on Stern’s Godzilla (Premium) from September 2021. This game, with its chaotic cityscape and monstrous battles, perfectly set the stage for a high-stakes pinball clash. Joel Daniel, hailing from Surprise, AZ, harnessed his inner kaiju to dominate the game, toppling the competition with precision and flair. Kevin Ehlers put up a fierce fight, but ultimately, it was Joel’s mastery of the mayhem that led him to victory.

  • 1st Place: Jim Smith from Phoenix, AZ. Ranked 15th in the state and 387th nationally, with a remarkable 540 total IFPA events under his belt, Jim proved why he’s a top contender. His victory is a testament to his experience and skill, outplaying the field with precision.
  • 2nd Place: Shaun Ping, whose persistence and skill earned him a well-deserved second place. Ranked 177th in the state and 3831st nationally, Shaun’s journey through 39 IFPA events has been impressive, battling through tough matches to secure his spot.
  • 3rd Place: Joel Daniel from Surprise, AZ, ranked 119th in the state and 4128th nationally, made a significant mark with his strategic play. Joel’s ability to stay cool under pressure against higher-ranked players was key to his success.
  • 4th Place: David Sanders, ranked 382nd in the state and 21349th nationally, brought enthusiasm and talent to the competition despite being relatively new with just three IFPA events. His performance shows great potential for future tournaments.
