Setting Sail at Captain’s Arcade:
Imagine this, mates: a swashbuckling arcade haven called Captain’s Arcade Showroom, tucked away in Anaheim, California. 36 gleaming pinball machines beckoning, from classic gems like Star Race and Paragon to the latest hotshot, Jim Henson’s Labyrinth. The air crackles with anticipation, spiced with the scent of popcorn and friendly competition. 20 brave souls, captained by the legendary CC Castaneda, set sail for pinball glory.
Avengers Assemble… and Clash!
Round 1 saw an epic duel on the Avengers: Infinity Quest battlefield. Johnny “Swift Fingers” Modica unleashed a dazzling display of skill, snatching 1st place from Jonathan “The SoCal Comet” Soon. But don’t underestimate the rookies! Unranked Fred Leininger held his own, securing 3rd place, while Brian “Golden Arm” Sutherland snagged 4th. Talk about an upset worthy of Thanos himself!
Champions Emerge!
After five rounds of fierce competition, the final scores were tallied. And the victors, my friends, were a sight to behold!
1st Place: Hillary “Hurricane” Jacobson proved rankings are just a number, dominating the tournament with her seasoned expertise. This seasoned sailor has 244 IFPA events under her belt, and this win adds another jewel to her pinball crown!
2nd Place: Kane “The Rising Star” Mejia lived up to the name, showcasing rapidly rising talent. With only 47 events under their belt, this young buck is definitely one to watch!
3rd Place: Johnny “Swift Fingers” Modica proved his Round 1 prowess wasn’t a fluke, securing another podium finish. This pinball veteran knows how to navigate the high seas of competition!
4th Place: David “Golden State” Green represented California well, snagging 4th place. With 142 events under his belt, this pinball buccaneer knows how to stay afloat!
A Toast to the Fallen Heroes:
Every tournament has its close calls, and this one was no different. Shoutout to all the valiant players who didn’t make the top 4, but fought tooth and nail nonetheless! You’re the barnacles that keep the pinball ship afloat, and your spirit adds flavor to the game.
