In Round 5, the stakes were high as players faced off on the thrilling JAWS (LE) pinball machine, released by Stern in January 2024. The game’s aquatic theme, inspired by the legendary shark thriller, added an extra layer of excitement. The match was a true test of skill and nerves, with Andrew Kohtz from Phoenix, AZ, emerging as the victor. He deftly navigated the machine’s treacherous waters, making precise shots and leveraging the multi-ball feature to rack up points. His triumph came down to a combination of strategic play and impeccable timing, leaving the competition in his wake.

The tournament featured a diverse selection of 15 pinball machines, each offering unique challenges and thrills. Highlights included:

Champions of the Night
The Stern Army – Starbase 120 tournament saw fierce competition as 25 skilled players battled it out at Taproom-120. Emerging victorious was Jeff Wegener, who, with his state rank of 27th and IFPA rank of 1146, demonstrated why he’s a formidable force in the pinball world. His consistent performance and strategic gameplay earned him the top spot, leaving the other competitors in awe.
Following closely in second place was Nate Tornero, whose impressive state rank of 6th and IFPA rank of 492 reflected his prowess and experience in the game. Despite the tough competition, Nate’s sharp skills and quick reflexes kept him in the running until the very end.
In third place, Walter Dony showed why he’s a veteran of the pinball scene. With a state rank of 14th and a staggering 150 IFPA events under his belt, Walter’s deep knowledge of the game and tactical approach secured him a spot on the podium.
Rounding out the top four was Wiley Bumtail, who, despite his state rank of 52nd and IFPA rank of 2124, played with remarkable tenacity and heart. Wiley’s determination and love for pinball were evident as he fought his way through the rounds, proving that rankings aren’t everything when it comes to the thrill of competition.
