Bullfight Gameplay & History

Face the bull — Bally’s Bullfight is an electromechanical single-player wrapped in a theme of the Spanish corrida, designed by the prolific Ted Zale. With reel scoring and a scarce confirmed run of just 825, it’s an uncommon and characterful woodrail-era piece with a genuinely distinctive, bumper-heavy layout, evoking the drama and spectacle of the bullring.

The layout’s calling card is an extraordinary complement of bumpers: two flippers, three pop bumpers, a remarkable seven mushroom bumpers, three slingshots, and a right-outlane ball return gate. That sea of pop and mushroom bumpers, plus the unusual third slingshot, defines the whole character of the game — all those bumpers promise a wildly bouncy, unpredictable ball that ricochets and caroms across the playfield like a charging bull, demanding sharp reflexes and active nudging to keep in play. The right-outlane ball return gate offers a welcome bit of insurance. It’s the kind of gloriously kinetic, bumper-driven design that gives EM machines their signature bounce, cranked all the way up.

Bullfight is a fun example of Ted Zale’s electromechanical craft and Bally’s knack for a lively, energetic layout. That field of seven mushroom bumpers makes it a genuinely distinctive play, all bounce and chaos and vintage energy, and with only 825 built it’s a scarce find for the collector who loves the bumper-bouncing heart of EM pinball. The dramatic bullfighting theme adds a bold, exotic flavor. For anyone who loves the joyful chaos of a bumper-heavy playfield, it’s a worthy find. Ride that wild field of bumpers, work the return gate, and face the bull. Some machines are all about the kinetic energy of the bounce, and this Zale classic charges hard. Olé, and drop a coin.
