Attack From Mars (Remake Special) Gameplay & History

This Special edition is Chicago Gaming’s officially licensed remake of Attack from Mars, bringing Brian Eddy’s 1995 sci-fi masterpiece back to life with modern enhancements like a large color DMD and a shaker motor. The design is untouched — and untouchable — a gleeful send-up of 1950s B-movie invasions that casts you as Earth’s last hope against a fleet of flying saucers, anchored by the hovering saucer bash toy that’s one of the most satisfying targets ever built.

The gameplay remains the gold standard it always was. You blast the saucers, drop the force fields, and rescue the cities, all building toward multiballs and the legendary Rule the Universe wizard mode. The expert moves carry over intact: bring down the saucer’s visor before a multiball so you can pound it safely, open the force field early since you can’t during multiball, and chase Total Annihilation — the four-ball blowout started by hitting each ramp and orbit three times. Clearing all four main shots without touching the visor even nets a one-billion-point hurry-up.

All the personality survives, too, from the mooing cows in the tractor beam to the “Dirty Pool” trick of trapping a fresh ball to one-shot the next saucer. With its factory-fresh build and crisp modern presentation, the Attack from Mars Remake Special is the definitive way to own one of the most acclaimed games ever made — proof that a perfect design deserves a second production run a generation later. We come in peace… mostly.
